I wish you luck with your search, but I don't think it's a good idea to put the idea of "closure" into your little boy's head. There are people all over with a parent missing, from death, divorce, etc. - and children eventually get past it. Your dwelling on it just makes it harder from the child.

I think closure is for you. A child may ask questions but YOU are the one obsessing over this.

The child may be more aware (of the departed birth parent) emotionally when older than age five.

The Op is married and that spouse should be a father for the young child so there is no missing parent in the child's thoughts.

I know its easy to judge, but just how did the Natural Dad become erased in the first place?

With my friends son the father didn't want to have children and forgot to mention it till she became pregnant, then he hit the door and never looked back.

But the child always knew who he was.

Why doesn't your son know who his natural dad is? Did you Purposefully erase all mention of him?

My friend erased her sons father and guess what, up he popped when the boy was 7 and old enough to kick a football around with.

Then SHE was furious because Natural Dad was Back.

What was best for her son didn't seem to enter into her equation.
