I looked up Earl Thomas Walker's family on the 1940 census in Burke County, NC.
Parents are Walter & Eunice.
If it's any help in identifying if this is the right family, they are listed as white on the census.
Walter is a carpenter.
Children in 1940 are:
Willliam
James
Carl
In the 1980s we had "street lists" of registered voters in Massachusetts that were available in public libraries. If he was a registered voter, he could be traced that way if those records are still available somewhere.
That might be a good idea. There's some overlapping when we search for people and since this person doesn't show up in the SS death index, he must be alive somewhere. You can start a new thread there and I will close this one. Put his name in the heading so search engines can pick it up.

Isn't it easier to move this thread and edit the title? Then all the info is still attached to it

We can do that too. I will change the title.
And here is another resource for Mass. There is a phone number. Every city used to have a city directory of all residents but I don't know if these still exist. They existed back in the 1980s and maybe someone could look the person up. https://www.mass.gov/orgs/executive-...on-and-finance
