A good friend recently learned that her deceased uncle Franklin Foss had a son (so my friend's cousin) who she has never met. She is trying to locate this cousin, and I thought that one of the regulars in this forum might be able to help.

Wayne Guy Foss, born August 12, 1959, last known address (about a decade ago) was in Madison, Wisconsin. My friend has found a few cases listed in Wisconsin Circuit Court Access, but they are years old at this point and the addresses that are listed are no longer correct. Wayne's father Franklin Foss died in September of 1996. I don't know his mother's name.

I know that's not much info, but if anyone has any suggestions for my friend, I'd love to pass them along. Thanks!

Have you had any success getting his father's obituary?
The last known address can often be helpful since someone bought or rented the house he was living in and/or he had friends in the neighborhood. And they may still live in that neighborhood and any one of them might know something that leads you to his current location.

Franklin, and his brother Al, ( and their parents) can be found in Find-A Grave

https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/.../franklin-foss

https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/...albert-k_-foss

Al's listing has an extensive obit listing other brothers and sisters names.

I was able to locate who could be the son of Albert .... with the obituary you found
And with the obituary being so recent (2013) I will send the address and phone to the Op and they can try that. If correct he would be Wayne's cousin and he might know more about his Uncle Franklin.

Thank you both! I really appreciate your expertise, as I just had no idea where to even start when my friend reached out to me.

Based on what she has been able to find, it appears that Wayne was either not acknowledged or was something of a black sheep in the family, as Franklin's obituary did not even mention Wayne's existence. My friend was unaware of his existence also until quite recently.

howard555, I did get your message, thanks, but unfortunately the cousin you located died about a year ago.

Ah, well, we can but try, and again, I thank you both for your help. You surely got farther than I ever would have!

Don't be tempted to eliminate the other names in the obituary.
It's not impossible that one of them knew something. If you need help locating current addresses from Albert's obituary just ask and people will find them for you.

The Find A Grave could have been a dead end as far as Albert's obituary (though other searches could have found the obituary) but it was not. It gave multiple names. Contact them all.

If your friend and Wayne had the same biological father then maybe DNA testing can help your friend. 1959 is 60 years ago but nothing unusual about people being in their 70's - 90's. If Wayne married and had kids DNA might help find them.
