I recently inherited a group of photographs from my grandmother's estate that are identified on the back with the inscription, "Photographed By Edwin Daughy, West Winsted, Conn." These are mostly turn of the century photos of the south: St. Augustine, Kentucky, St. Johns River at Weloka, Lake Como (?), etc. All are about 5x7 in size, mounted on very stout cardboard with golden gilded edges. Judging from the minute detail that each photo exhibits, my best guess would be that they are contact prints from a view camera; all but one also has hand written locations listed on the back, and two dates are included on separate prints - one of 1894, the second is 1904. I am interested in any information about this photographer, who he worked for, and the purpose of his photography. He seems to have been interested in everyday scenery, including barns, steamboats, interesting homes, store fronts, historical things. If anyone could offer any info on the photographer and/or these photos, I would be very grateful. I am thanking you in advance... Jim Nau, Emmett, Idaho.
