Is his name on your birth certificate? If so, is he listed as Jim? Is Jim is real name or a nickname for James? What is his middle name? What does the A stand for? If he is on the birth certificate, does it give his date of birth? If not, does it give his age when you were born? If so, what is the month and year you were born and what was his age at that time?
The problem is he has such a very common name and if he is in the military and travels, it makes it harder to find him. Awesome you have a picture because he may recognize himself or someone may recognize him.

Put in his first name, middle initial and last name.
Then put in his age. Since you have a range, try 53 first, print those names out, then 54, then 55. See if any of those people and locations and cross relatives look like they could be right.
