Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask but I will give it a try anyway.

A couple of years ago I developed a close online friendship with a guy I met on another forum.

Unfortunately, at one point, we both got caught up in other real life issues and didn't spend as much time on the forum in question, and that place was the main area which we communicated. Over a period of time, the level of activity on the forum in question declined, resulting in most users leaving and we lost contact.

That was a couple of years ago now and I am looking to regain contact with the forum user in question. I cannot do so through the forum because nobody uses that site anymore. I do however know a lot of details about him but am unsure how to use this to regain contact. I've tried searching through Facebook but his name is fairly common, which makes things difficult.

I'm looking for some advice on what would be the best path to regain contact with someone after a few years without communication.

Thanks

It sounds like both of you left the forum.
What is the status of that other forum? Is it closed or just casually active.
If someone found you there then a good place to try to find you again would be the same place where they found you to begin with = that forum. Maybe they are looking for you.
Name, age, location are a good place for you to start.

Howard has the same questions as me. I also want to know if you've tried to private message or email him thru the forum? That would be the best place to start.

Your story reminds me of when the Maximum PC forum started dying due to FB. They eventually closed it. Thankfully I was FB friends with many of the people there.
