Hey I just wanted to thank-you again to you and to everyone for all your help and update you on what I have learned so far.

I was able to visit with a long lost cousin (2nd, 3rd, 4th, but who's counting?) Anyways, she dosen't have much more info. on August Louis Napoleon Lanier. But she does know that he was a bit of a ladies man, and that he was the 10th child in his family. He ran away from France to the USA because he left the priesthood. I guess in his family it was supposedly his destiny to be a priest, or so he was ordered by his family. He didn't want to be a priest he wanted to get married and have children.

They believe there is a Family Bible and it may be in the possession of one of Harvey Lanier's children. Harvey's granddaughter discovered a Family Bible had gotten a bit wet from all of the rains they got in IL. due to huricane Ike. She is planning on taking it to be cleaned and gone over. Hopefully soon. The cousin in Alaska feels it most definately could be the Lanier Family Bible as Harvey's wife's family were non believers in God in any form of religion so she feels they most likely would not have had a Family Bible.

The cousin in Alaska stays in regular touch with the cousin in IL. so as soon as she hears anything she will be in touch with me.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hopefully I will soon be able to get past the name August Lanier. Even if it's only one generation further back, it's a generation farther than we have gotten in 20-30 years.

So thanks again for all your help. It has put me in contact with relatives I never knew existed and hopefully further back in my family line. God Bless You Both and everyone else who also helped!!!!

Aaack! It's disconcerting to see my 'name' in a title.
For a second there I thought I was missing or had unknown children!

Special thanks to Travelingal, Susan and Eliznj for not posting my address and phone number.

And now I have to bump the thread to say, "you're welcome, Wyoquilter." Cherish your new-found cousins, for in the long-run they will bring you more joy than the eighth level of your family chart.

Ha, Ha, Ha, LOL!! hcgCali, Sorry to have put a scare in you.

I will cherish my new found family. I have spent almost 3 and 1/2 hours on the phone with one of them already and we will be in contact via e-mail as well. I know that they will bring more joy than the deceased ones from the past. What will make it even more enjoyable is that we will be learning about our past together.

Again THANKS!!!
