Default Pia Mastrantonio in Chile

In 1981 we had an exchange student from Chile live with our family in Birmingham, Michigan (a suburb of Detroit). She made an amazing impression on our family and we would so love to contact her. Our family name is the Wilson family. Pia attended Groves High School in Beverly Hills, MI with our family.

Her name is/was: Maria Pia Nerdia Ramos Mastrantonio. At that time she had a boyfriend, Hugo who she planned to marry.

Any help would be so appreciated! -- Patrick

Here's a spanish language white pages search engine URL for Chile.
http://www.blancas.cl/
What city she was she from? Santiago area (capital city) is called RM in the search. The rest of the country is divided from North to South into 11 regions by numbers (very simple). If you know what city she is from, I'll tell you which region that is in.
Ramos is probably her fathers last name, and Mastrantonio is probably her mother's last name. Ramos is a common name so the search by paternal last name will get a lot of hits. I did a search of people by paternal last name of Mastrantonio and got only one listing in RM (Santiago) area.
Most women in Chile don't drop their paternal last name after marriage. Many don't change their name at all. Only question would be if she has a listed telephone number in her name. Do you recall if she had a brother? If so, a search by his name and his town would have a good chance of a hit.
I have used this white pages guide to locate people I knew many years ago in Chile.

I lived in Chile for a year in 1971 as a US high school exchange student in Vina del Mar. Great country, and a place that I like to visit from time to time. Last time I was there was 2002.

Thanks for the info! I do believe she was from Santiago. I remember that she had two or three sisters, brothers I'm not sure about though. She would be about 42 years old now. Okay, now I feel old! heh. I've never been to Chile, but I remember so much of the stories she would tell us at the dinner table. She was such a wonderful person!! Thanks again!

Hi! Please Let Me Know If You Already Contacted Her.

Default i'm gad you found her

my name is nita and i read about the success you all had in finding pia. i was wondering if there was anyone out there who might be able to help me find an old classmate of mine, also from santiago, chile. i looked up her name in the blancas amarillas and my head was spinning! her name at the time was silvia gutierrez contreras, i believe she is between 30 and 32 years of age, and she attended our high school in newark valley, new york. she was an exchange student who stayed with lori rodriguez in the school year of 1991 to 1992. i read the post on switching the names, and tried that and i still was spinning. if anyone can help me figure this out i would be so appreciative. thank you!

Default Give me some more information

Hi Nita
I'm Alejandro the person who contacted Pia. It's been a long time since the last time I visited this page. I am trying to help you. Do you have more info that could help me to contact the person you are looking for? Did she visited States through any Scholarship System? Do you now what profession she wanted to take? Other clues could be very helpfull for me.
I will wait for your information
regards
Alejandro

Default Maria Isabel Gil Barra in Chile

If Alejandro is willing to try again, I'm also looking for a former student from Chile. She stayed with my family, the Cenci family, in Guilderland NY in 1978 or 1979. Her name then was Maria Isabel Gil Barra and she was known as Marisa. She was from Vina del Mar and graduated from St. Margaret's British school in 1980. She visited our family once again in about 1990 and I know she was married and had children then. Unfortunately we lost touch with her and now my daughter, an American college student, is going to study in Chile at P.U.C. beginning in June 2009 for several months. I plan to visit her there. I would love to find Marisa and visit her when I'm in Chile. I think she would love to know that a member of our family is in her country. Her children might even be my daughter's age. I don't know what city she lives in now but I think she worked for a large department store or in fashion when she last visited us in the US. I know it is unlikely, but you had such great success in the past so if you could help me, I would be very grateful. Eileen Cenci Carey.
