Finding a person?
I'm trying to find a person but I have no idea how to do it. All I have is the name and a phone number from 1977. The person I am looking for was living in Portland in 1977, I don't know if he still lives there or have moved, or even if he is alive.
I live in Sweden so I don't really know how to do this.
Can anyone please help me?

Can you tell us his name? You can try by looking on peoplefinders.com, then check zabasearch.com. Those are the two places that I look first. Often there is a birth year or the person's age is there. Also, peoplefinders lists possible relatives. Have a pen and paper nearby, so you can jot down the relatives names as well...then look them up. Go to zabasearch and make sure you scroll through all the names. You can do a 'Control F' on your keyboard to make it easier to find a name or number, right away. If I'm not having much luck with either of those two sites, I then do a regular google search or yahoo search. I also do an images search on google. You never know what will come up on those. If you want I can try to help you with this.

His name is Stuart Campbell. I don't know his age or address. If I had to guess, I'd say he's somewhere around 50-60 years old now. All I know is his name and that he lived in Portland, Oregon in 1977. His phone number back then was 227-3424. I don't know any names of his relatives either...
He knew my grandpa who died in 1980. I have a photo of Stuart and I think I would recognize him if I saw a more recent photo.
If you have the time I would appreciate your help very very much.

Is he a teenager in the picture that you have? There is a Stuart Campbell, class of 1979, Parkrose High School, Portland, OR. If that's him, maybe you can contact him through classmates.com.

I would say he is older. In the picture I have he looks to be about 25-30 years old. Thank you for trying though

Why not try the Stuart S. Campbell? Although, a little older than you said...he was born in 1942. There is a phone number. Punch his name in on zabasearch.com. Says he is in Portland, OR. He could be one of those people who looks younger than his years. You never know.

Thank you very much! I will try him.
Do you know if there is any possible way to trace the old phone number I have? Can it be done if I call the phone company?
Thanks a million for your help!

Hi Jenny - you can try the US Census records for Portland in the 70's and 80's which would give you a lead. They are listed on line - Try Ancestry.com or the Morman library site to begin. The census is taken every 10 years (since 1790) and its a good place to start.

The U.S. Census records are released 72 years after the date, so current public availability is up through 1930. 1940 will be released in April, 2012.
