I am trying to locate Clifford White who is the father of a friend of mine. He we are told was /is in the USAF. He had a brief relationship with my friend's mom in England twenty two (22) years ago. My friend's mom is Sylvia Gordon. Thanks for any help anyone can provide. This is important to her.
Thank you so very much. I am sorry for not responding sooner but had PC problems.
Her birth certificate says Clifford Joseph White and that he was a technical sergeant.
He is about 50 years old. I was thinking that perhaps she should contact the Clifford D. White just in case it may be the same person and the birth certificate had an error. Not sure what to do.
If you have any additional ideas please let me know. Help from anyone would be appreciated.
Thanks again.
This is great. Thank you, thank you , thank you. I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate all that you have done.
My next step is deciding how to make the first contact. I have not told her anything as yet since I do not want to give her any high hopes and then to let her down. I am certainly going to contact him soon and will let you know.
Thanks again and agian.
Just to keep you informed. I sent Clifford White a letter on my friend's behalf. I explained to him that she did not need financial help, she does not want to disrupt his marriage or family life. She simply wants to know whom her father is; not to create problems. I also explained to him who her mom is, that my friend was born in England and that she is an intelligent and wonderful young lady ( she genuinely is ). I told him that if he is the Clifford White we are looking for to please contact me on my cell etc.
Well he called today and he was upset that we contacted him. He stressed that his wife is very angry. I apologized to him and asked him if I could speak with his wife as I would like to apologize to her personally. He said no, and that he does not want me to speak with her. I aksed him to convey my sincerest apologies to her, as we meant no harm. That was the end of the conversation. He did not wish us well, not even a have a nice day or wish us luck in our search. Nothing. I am feeling a bit down by it and so are our colleagues. One of my colleagues suggested we send a letter of apology, and also include a photo of the Clifford White in uniform 21 years ago; asking him to hold it just in case he ever came across someone who has the same name. I think I am going to just leave it be.
I am puzzelled though as to why his wife would be angry. He said he has never been to England and if he has been married all this time his wife would have known he has never been to England, so she would have realized it was a genuine mistake. There would have been no need for her to be angry.
(If it really is him, his daughter with his wife is approx 3 years older than my friend). Strange why they are angry. Oh well... Life.
Thanks anyway for your help. Don't know where we will go next.
That sounds like it is him, but anyway, I also knew a Clifford White. He worked with me as a slot attendent at The Grand casino ( now the Atlantic City Hilton) with me in 1991 till 1994. I think we are both about the same age (47). I know he had been in the service. He was about 5'8 with blond hair and muscular features. Also, very fun to be around. If I can be of help write back.
Thanks much janshome3939. The photo she gave me is an African American in USAF uniform. Any help you or any one can give would be very much appreciated. Thanks again.
