I was born at Kings Country Hosp in Brooklyn NY on Oct. 24th 1958. I only have my grandmas name because my mom was a minor at the time of my birth. My mom was 17 when she had me. My grandmas name is Katherine Camerlengo. I am 50 years old now which would make my mom about 68 years old. I dont know if Katherine is still alive or not. Pleace e mail if you might be able to help. Just a thought for you. Due to the fact that I couldn't find anything on a Katherine Camerlengo (searched all of USA). I just used the last name and searched Brooklyn, NY. I found this person:

(The age could be right, if she was about 34 in 1958, she would have been 17/18 when she had your birth mother; who was 17 in 1958)

My mom had me in Beth-El hosp in brooklyn. She was a minor. A friend of her family last name Pollowitz helped with the adoption.

I found only 3 people named Pollowiz from Brooklyn. Married couple Stanley and Audrey, and "V," possibly their child. "V" was listed in the phone book:

. I was born in Beth Israel hosp Beth El is the abreviation on my birth cert. Does anyone know any Camerlengos? I D dont believe my birth mom lived in brooklyn at the time of my birth. DOB 10/24/1958. Someone out there must know a young girl who had a baby in 1958. My adopted dads boss knew my birth family and helped with the arrangements of the adoption. His name was Joseph Pollowitz who ran Regina Novelty Co, for years in Manhattan, Ny. Did anyone work there or have any info? I am very grateful for your help.

Joseph Pollowitz born 1897, died in Miami, Fl in 1979.

According to 1930 Census, he lived on Lefferts Ave., Brooklyn, NY. with wife Frances (1903-1991), children Sheldon M. (b-1925) and Jack D. (b-1928). They had a live-in servant, Bettie Menten (b-1920 in Germany) 10 yrs old? .

I searched the street for Camerlengo but it was totally a Russian/Polish/Jewish neighborhood in 1930 and Camerlengo is Sicilian. A street search on a more recent database had no results either. A search for Camerlengo in that zipcode produced nothing.

I found no other records for Bettie Menten under any variation of the name.

The sons are now in their 80's, but it's your best shot at this time. (Since they were in their 30's when you were born, I doubt either of them is your father, but you never know).
