Looking for family members of an Otto Schroeder. I don't have his exact birth, sometime in the late 1800's I believe. Has a son named Fred and a daughter.

I found a special item in a home I lived in back in the early 1990's that has a personal note written on it from Fred to his father Otto dated December 25, 1922.

I believe these are some addresses for Otto back in the 1920's.

10152 Harper Avenue, (I believe St. Clair Shores, Michigan)
15825 Eastburn, Detroit, Michigan 48205

Would like to pass item on to the family.

Ok, I found the right family. There are 3, possibly 4 generations of Otto Paul Schroeder, who lived at the Harper Ave address at least through 1930 (per Census).

Fred was the son of the patriarch, Otto-1. Otto-1's son Otto jr (aka Otto-2), Fred's brother, also was known as Otto Sr. after the birth of his own son Otto Jr (aka Otto-3). Otto-2 and his wife Ida lived at the Eastburn address, possibly with Otto-3, because "Otto and Ida" are listed as living there in 1993 records but Otto-2 had already passed on by that time.

This is the family tree as I've been able to construct it. Michigan does not have birth and marriage records available so this is limited to what I could find from other sources. In case the phone numbers I'm giving you don't turn out to be members of this family, it is possible that some family member will google a name and find this thread. So please keep your contact info updated in your profile and check back occassionally.

A. Otto P. Schroeder (b. abt 1872, Germany) (Otto-1)
....m. Johanna K. Schroeder (b. abt 1875, Germany. d. before 1930)
....Year of immigration: 1892-3

B. offspring:
....1. Margaret A. Schroeder (b. abt 1898, Michigan)
........m. Herman Dommer (b abt 1899)
.........C. child: Mare Dommer (b abt 1919) possibly Mary?

....2. Otto Paul Schroeder Jr. (b. 01/16/1899, Michigan, d. 11/01/1977) AKA Otto Sr.(Otto-2)
.........m. Ida L. Schroeder (b abt 1906)
.........C. children:
……........a. Norma (b abt 1923, Michigan)
............b. Otto Paul Schroeder Jr. (b abt 1925, Michigan) (Otto-3)

....3. Frederick Herman Schroeder (b. 7/26/1900, Michigan. d. 1/1966, Michigan)

....4. Emma W. Schroeder (b. abt 1903, Michigan)

....5. Vilma (or Selma) M. Schroeder (b. abt 1905, Michigan)

....6. Olga E. Schroeder (b abt 1909, Michigan)

....7. Emil Schroeder (b 1/15/1912, Michigan. d. 10/1966)

....8. Johanna Schroeder (b abt 1913, Michigan)

....9. Adeline Schroeder (b abt 1915, Michigan)

Without birth and marriage records, most of them fell into the black hole between the 1930 Census and the present. I also did not find Obits or a family tree for anyone in this family. I could not find Fred in 1930 and therefore couldn't establish if he married or had offspring. However, there is currently a Frederick Herman Schroeder in Detroit, who may possibly be a descendent. I also cannot find Otto-3, living or death records. There is, however, an Otto Paul Schroeder currently in Michigan who may be the son of Otto-3 (Otto-4). This post will give you enough family info to ask questions to determine if Otto or Fred are descendents.

Otto Paul Schroeder (Jul 1947)
1315 Lafayette Ave NE
Grand Rapids, MI 49505-5043
(616) 451-4817
Household: Linda Rae Schroeder (62)
relative: David Paul Schroeder (40)

Frederick Herman Schroeder (81)
36166 Boyce Dr
Clinton Township, MI 48035-1412
(586) 791-4251
Household: Geraldine Delores Schroeder (79)
Relative: Kurt Schroeder (49)

Please let us know how it turns out. We can keep searching for relatives if these 2 are wrong.

It may just be a coincidence, but my grandfather was Otto Schroeder. He had three children, Otto, Fred and Helene. However, they lived in NYC, not MI (as far as I know). My father, Fred, was born in 1937. Probably not the same family, but many of the names are similiar.

Otto Schroeder and his father are buried in Gethsemene Cemetary on Gratiot Ave. in Detroit. I have more information on the family if you are interested.
