Maybe I missed it but how old is this "boy"?

Custody does not mean the father does not get to see his child. Some with have the child for 6mo and then the other will have the kid.
Some it's every other week , each agreement is different

The op told us very little about the custody or visitation agreement.
Just because she "misses" him doesn't mean the father has done anything wrong.
The father did kidnap the kid then just call the police. They will take care of it. Much cheaper and faster than a lawyer will. You do have the papers to prove the kid should be in your care at the moment, right? then just dial 911 and report the abduction.
What is the lawyer going to do?
They can't get the kid or enforce any agreement only the police can.

And call child protective services also IF you do have a ligament problem.
