The other day I decided to do a "google" search on the three things I knew about my biological dad. I got a hit! So, I clicked on it.

It was an obit, of a man who moved from my hometown in the year I was conceived to Texas. (One of the "stories" my mother told me was that when she told him she was pregnant with me he told her to "have an abortion." Obviously she didn't, but I wish she did.
Another "story" of hers aside from the "I blocked it out of my mind" is the: "He died in Vietnam."

So here is a man, from my hometown, and was in the military. I clicked on a few other hits...all of the same man. One of the sites was findagrave.com. So I went there only to discover a "guest book." One of the signers left an email address, so I wrote him. I not only chose him for easy accessibility, but by what he said. It was obvious he knew this man for a long time.

I wrote this person, but didn't disclose my need; however, his curiosity may have been piqued because he wrote back.
I explained it to him in an email.
He wrote back stating that he was "blown away," amongst other things.
I wrote again, stating that under no circumstances was he to say anything to his friend; and I made myself clear that I was "looking for nothing,"just answers to the questions I posed in regards to this particular person.

It's Day 3 and I haven't heard back. Not sure if I ever will; perhaps he thinks I'm a crackpot who is scouring the obits making false claims. Who knows?

I'll keep those interested posted.
