I carry a credit card and never, ever, use them in stores. (I use mine for Netflix, air fares, and the occasional Amazon.com purchase.) It can be handy to pay for the co-pay in case one of us needs a trip to the ER ~ and that did happen a few months ago.
I'm a cash person. Pay cash for everything, am rarely "tempted" to use my credit cards.

So you go to the grocery store with list of items that you need, put them in your cart, then don't want to be "temped" to use your credit card instead of cash? It costs the same, or probably less with the credit card.

Nope, I don't. And my grocery shopping habits are weird, anyway. Rare that I stock my carts with a long list like most people. Some things I buy in bulk, the rest of the time I pop in to pick up a few things I really need. I don't even use Costco's card when I'm there.
A few of my friends "live" on their credit cards ~ meaning, they use them for just about everything. But they're also in much bigger debt than I am.
My spouse carries one credit card that is used for reimbursable work expenses only. We pay our bills on-line and everyday expenses with cash or a debit card. We've done this for many years and have never had any problems at all.
We actually have 7 credit cards (not counting the one for work) but only 1 has a balance. I get different rewards on each card (dining, furniture, gas etc.) so I rotate between them and then pay them off in full while reaping the rewards. I haven't paid a penny in interesting for any of my cards in nearly 2 years, but have made close to $1000 in rewards, so I'd like to think I'm doing alright
I would never do most of my "card swiping" with a debit card. Credit card all the way! Better rewards. Better PROTECTION. Just Better.
If you have no self control, every time you charge something with your credit card, make a payment to the credit card account. That way your checking gets drained as you use the card.
Charge $20 at Walmart. That evening make a $20 payment to your credit card.
The next day charge $30 for gas. That evening make a $30 payment.
Every month I have about 100 charges and 100 payments on my statement. Damm thing is usually 6-7 pages long.
I carry at least 1 CC from every issuer. Have lots more (debt/credit ratio).
Hardly carry any cash, cash doesn't have many rewards like CCs do.
Haven't carried a balance for some time now.
