Found a new high, Sallie Mae high-yield savings account at 1.40%, Discovery bank at 1.35%.

Nice find, only thing is that you would need to work in the area of the bank or work for one of the companies listed on their site.

Smartypig is at 2.15%. Go to the Ratebrain's website. Some checking accounts are almost 5% but with restrictions.

The interest rates are so low that I gave up chasing extra 0.1%, which is $10 per $10,000 a year. I have used Ally bank for more than a year and very happy with all the products that they offer. Currently, the savings rate is 1.29%, which is lower than the above.

The only complaint that I have with Ally is they don't have Iphone app where I can deposit the checks with.
