Yeah Discover/HBSC is selling Term at a relatively high price. About 5 to 6 times market. Like others noted, check what they really cover. Looks like when JC Penney was doing the same to generate cash flow.

For anyone else following along -- Get The Insurance Before You Leave! Typically one of the sort questions for getting the best rates is little to no international travel (along with no sky diving, scuba, smoking , etc.) within the last two years. But they only tend ask what you have Done -- NOT what you are planning on doing.

Wanted to ponder a different angle, for Tom. If you are traveling from Texas, and covered by Workers Comp, you may also be covered (limited to work related) with Death Benefits of typically $500,000.

Most Texas W/C policies cover world wide travel because so many of us do international travel for energy, building, DoD, etc. Usually the requirement is that you spend 1 day back in Texas per calendar year.

Thanks for the responses. I will indeed check out the fine print of the no-exam policies, explore overseas medical testing for longer term standard policies and also for possible WC coverage suggested by Philip.
