hello, anyone can provide some input as to how much to give the successor
for a will/trust? a percentage annually? a percentage of the sum of asset? or a lump sum? like 10-20K total?
for those whom had asset before you were married, if you were to pass away, whom do you give it to? to your spouse, parents? how do you allowcate the asset in this case? thanks.
In some cases a will name a primary executor and the list of back-ups / lines of succession should they not be available, but by itself "successor" means a very different think than executor.
Fees for executor are limited in some states, either to a flat fee or a percentage of the assets to be handed out. In cases it may be necessary to have a trustee actively manage the assets and fees can be set for that.
Talk an attorney with experience in estate planning...
I'm giving my executor a 5% of the total estate flat fee - very generous but she's an attorney and it's going to be complicated by many properties - plus she is a good friend.
