Unfortunately, many people do forget. My grandmother, even before she had Alzheimer's, resubscribed to Reader's Digest so many times that she had 2 different subscriptions for several years each. When my mom took over receiving her mail, she had the 2 subscriptions combined, and they were paid for like 12 years total. Every time grandma got a renewal notice, she paid it. And they still keep sending "your subscription is about to expire" even though she is paid for over a decade in advance.
