Default How many Credit Cards do you have? What is your total credit limit?

I have 7 Visa's and Mastercards, and one American Express. I have a total available credit of $145,000 and will never go broke if I lose my job.

(I got all these cards to get 0% credit card convieance check offers that I have made alot of money on.)

How many Credit Cards do you have? What is your total credit limit?

None! I closed all of my accounts and I'm not getting one until I pay off the others.

Oh, and if you need to live off of credit cards then you are broke.

2 - 2 different sky miles cards

We had one that we used exclusively for everything, but then Bank of America bought them out and customer service went downhill fast. I'm leaving it open and with no balance just until we buy our new house so our credit score doesn't take a ding by closing it out.

Our new SkyMiles card is great. We put everything on it, almost all of our monthly bills, gas, groceries, you name it, it goes on there. I'd put my mortgage on there if we could. It gets paid in full every month so no interest or fees and I'd rather get SkyMiles then get nothing for paying off our bills.

Our limit is 45k but we never get close to that since we pay off in full every month.

Wow, this was an eye-opener for sure. I actually have 4 mastercard and visas =$13,400 credit avail, 5 dept store cards =$8,750 credit avail and 2 extra credit cards specifically can only be used for 4 wheelers or medical =$18,200 available to me. Pretty scary to think I could do that much damage. I think the only way I would try to run them all up is if I found out I had like a month to live and I would go crazy buying all kinds of stuff for my family and friends and definitely go on one last great trip to top it off.

We have 6 with 4 gas cards and two dept store cards (one is Sears and the other a Kohl's). Total credit line runs about $50,000 but we don't use it. Pay it off monthly. We use to have about 5 others, closed those accounts and got rid of them. They were higher interest cards. We kept the lower interest ones. Liz

I have 2 credit cards, with a combined limit of around $20k. I don't carry a balance. If I ever lost my job, I have savings I could live off of. I definitely wouldn't live off of borrowed money.

Thank you for stating what is unfortunately not obvious (but should be!) to many people!

Between my wife and I, we've somehow amassed a total of 17 cards. Most of them Airline/Cruiseline type deals, but my main one is a CitiCard I've had since college. I started it with a credit limit of $3000, and now have a credit limit of $18000. In all, I'm not positive, but I'd ballpark about 200k for a total credit limit. We only have about $3000 for a balance over 2 cards though, so I'd say we're alright.

I have one card with a 7K limit, DH has 2 cards with a total of 20K and a LOC for 5K. One card he opened up to take care of booking wedding stuff because he got a good rate (for a limited time, of course). It's paid off, but we decided to keep that one open for emergencies. We also have a 5K CC for Furniture Row, at 0% until Jan 1, 2008.

I'm currently shopping for another card for business use, so that will add to the fun.
