I just e-filed on April 15th and the check came today. I've never had it show up that fast in all my years of filing.

We had unusually high medical expenses and took the home office deduction for the first time this year, so the return was almost double last year's. I expected maybe they'd delay it and take a closer look. Now I'm a little paranoid that they rushed out the check so that they can audit me and try to make me pay some of it back.

Mine was a third of what it usually is, which I attribute to getting closer to what my taxes should have been on my W-4 all along. I'm getting closer at nailing that magic number! Mine took just over a week. Maybe since it was so much less they wanted to get it out before I claimed anything else to make that return larger. LOL

Well, that makes me feel better.

Maybe they're just rushing them out this year to try to prop up the economy or something.

We took the 2008 fthb "credit" and the govt didn't have it's act together so after they wouldn't accept ours till the 14th of Feb, they still took an additional over two months to process and pay it. Nice how they had all those years to implement and check the programs but waited till the paybacks came do to let us know there was a "glitch".

Do you mean "how long did it take to prepare your federal tax return?" or "how long did it take to receive your federal tax refund?"

It has never taken me more than 15 minutes total to prepare both my state and federal tax returns.

I don't much care how long it takes for my refund to be kicked out because the Department of Education awaits in perpetual vigil to gobble it up like Pac-Man.

I filed on February 10. My CA return was in the bank on February 17, and my Federal was in the bank on February 18.

I entered the date they could withdraw what I owed from my checking account, and they did on the exact date.

I filed in early February. It took 2 or 3 weeks for my refund to direct deposit.
