The price a landlord paid for a house has nothing to do with how much your rent should be.

$50,000? I'm making a $60,000 offer on a 40 year old mobile home with a ratty interior and hoping it will be accepted because I am lowballing.

Real estate sure is local. I'd like $50,000 houses, but I don't want to live in the areas where houses are $50,000.

rent is based on what people are willing to pay.

Square footage, amenities, parking, the neighborhood, the school system, comparable rent/what people are willing to pay, etc.

I assume you mean you don't want to live in a 50K house in your market because in my market in SW Ohio there is a large selection of houses in good neighborhoods in the 50K price range. I assume these beat a mobile home:

Are you serious? I can't imagine a house with a roof for only 50K.
If you don't have to put 200K into it to make it livable,
why would you NOT buy a livable house for 50K?

At 4% interest for only 50K with 200 month taxes, your payment
would probably be around 400 a month, including taxes. Throw in insurance,
450.00 a month.
If you want to move, rent it out. Let it pay for itself.
I still can't believe you can buy a house that you can actually live in for only 50K.

There are plenty in your town of Aiken, SC....Look at realtor.com
