10 or 20 Million? I'd launch a hostile takeover of a community bank, demand a board seat, fire all the employees, and sell off the various assets for my express personal gain, a la Gordon Gekko.

No, actually, I wouldn't do any that. After giving a portion to my family and various charitable causes, I'd probably save a small nest egg for retirement, and use the rest to acquire and run a portfolio of small businesses.

. . . after paying off some student loans and taking a long vacation in Southern Baja.

The very first thing I would do is buy a white Cadillac.

I've always wanted one.

If employed, finish my assignment then quit. If unemployed, call every recruiter tell them I'm no longer in the market, here's why. Give money to certain family members, but no loans. Don't go into business, too much risk of losing everything. Buy a Tesla and vow never to buy a drop of gasoline the rest of my life. Travel many places, but fly commercial.

Pay off my student loans, put a fair amount into a portfolio that has stable dividend paying stock, put some in T-Bills and other low risk assets, expand the family real estate holding business if I could convince some of my relatives to go along with it, probably buy a nice small house somewhere, help out my folks, and do pro-bono work full time.

Tough question. 20 million.

Two million would go to a variety of charities.

I might spend 2 million on a nice house in Houston.

5 million on T-Bills and Muni Bonds
5 million in high dividend stocks...consumer staples PG, utilities SO, pipelines KMP, conglomerates MMM.

I'd take a trip but that would only be 50k, the rest I'd save.

I have a list of inventions I have thought of during the past forty years. I would hire a team of people to make and test prototypes of every one of them. That would take care of about $20 million.
