Default Two questions about credit unions

I don't know if anyone will be able to answer these two questions but regardless, here they are:

1. Is there a website that has a list of credit unions (nationwide) that are exceptional for college students to use?

2. Is it possible for someone to become a member of a credit union that isn't in their state? If so, which website would have a list of those particular credit unions?

Thanks in advance!

It's not 100%, but here is a list of credit unions you can search by zip or association.

America's Credit Unions: Where people are worth more than money.

Also, you don't necessarily have to live in a certain state to belong to a credit union there. I've belonged to credit unions in states other than where I've lived, although some credit unions might have that requirement, I suppose.

I wholeheartedly agree with Alliant Credit Union. They even have 24/7 member support by phone, which most credit unions don't have. I believe they just recently added the ability to deposit checks using your Smartphone, too.

I live in Northern Virginia and there is actually a branch location within my county....only its about a 30 mile drive, lol.

You did say that I can be a member and still not have to visit a branch to deposit a check per say?

Remote deposit is something that is becoming more common. Check 21 Act (I believe) paved the way for this. Many banks and CUs are going this route as it may decrease the overhead in check processing - it just takes time the change/set up the new process.

There you go. So in essence, that service should be more and more common as financial institution start to upgrade their processes/systems to accommodate for this.

As for your first question - I think others have provided a lot of resources. In essence, you'll need to look for the attribute that you desire. When you say "exceptional for college students"... what does that entail?
