Bank employee stole huge sum of money from Alzheimer patient
If you have an elderly relative or friend please make sure their business dealings are properly monitored. I'm sure this is not an isolated event. A few years ago a church organist in Atlanta robbed a dementia patient blind knowing all along he could keep the family fooled.

do they have any proof? certainly people like that will get taken advantage of but I didn't see anything in the article indicating they had proof that it was the/a bank employee

Not to mention the person that took conservatorship should have noticed this MUCH EARLIER -- she had control since March 2010 and noticed this in July 2011, after it's been going on for a year?
And hmmmm.... after 90 days I believe ATM video records are destroyed... and the statute of limitations is up -- you can't not pay attention for a year and expect to get your money back... and how did the bank person get his atm card and passcode?
There's so much wrong with this....

Wow. This is terrible. I work with many seniors who trust bankers to help them with bill paying. So much for trusting folks....

Well ATM's have a camera that records you when you make a transaction. While you can try to hide your face, chances are if you feel you have no chance of getting caught, your not going to bother. My mother used to work at a bank and a guy walked into the bank and said he never made these ATM withdrawals from his account, but they were able to show video evidence his son was making the ATM withdrawals. The bank of course doesn't keep these recording forever, I would think after 6 months, if no problems arose, they record over them. The daughter took over his affairs in March 2010, but it says they didn't notice money was missing until July 2011. It would really depend on when the bank ATM transactions where made, to determine if they had any video ATM evidence still in there possession.

It's easy enough to order a copy or get a replacement card and just ask the the person with Alzheimer for there passcode. They aren't exact all there anyway.
