Giving HSBC the heave ho (rate, deposit, credit, accounts)

So, I've steadily watched as HSBC has whittled down the interest rate on their online savings accounts. Today i got an email saying that it is being slashed from 0.80% to 0.40%. A 50% haircut that I'm not willing to stand for.

Anyone know of a good "online" bank that at least has some physical presence that offers rates north of 0.40%. I'm not comfortable totally with the pure online accounts where you have to "mail" in checks in order to make deposits.

I've got an online account with Capital One and they use to be 1.25%, now they're down to .60%. They just bought out HSBC's credit card division, but not sure about their banking arm. Anyways, they're huge in the DC Metro area since they bought out all the Chevy Chase branches.
