Default There are calling Northeast area now!

I live in the Northeast and I just received the call from FLORIDA. My caller Id showed a number that when I called back it says "not in service". ???
The woman started by saying that she had a lower interst rate on my visa card from card member services. Then told me that you had to be at least 3000.00 in debt to qualify. Then she proceeded to ask for my account number. I told her if she was my credit card company she would have that,. SHe then said thats not how it works....they deal with millions of visa and needed by number to verify who I was. I told her I WOULD verify it with her. SH ethen said " it starts with a 4"
I laughed and said all visas start with a 4. I hung up and called my visa card compay who is credit card servises and tehy said NEVER GIVE YOUR NUMBER OUT NOW BECAUSE THERE ARE NO PROMOTIONS GOING ON AT THIS TIME!
So...just a word to the wise...they are calling all over the states! BE AWARE because they almost sound convincing!

They call you or email you and say that they "work with over 200 or 500 banks such as Bank of America and Chase, and can offer you lower interest rates on your current accounts" (not with a new account). They ask similar questions:

1) Do you have current balances of at least $5000?
2) Are all your cards in good standing currently?

They have called me twice, and playing along, I went through the phone menu system.

They then proceed to ask you which card you would like to start with, to "see if you qualify". Nice way to make you feel like this is an exclusive offer for only the privileged few.

I asked them why they needed my account numbers, and if they are working
with banks like mine, why they didn't already have my information. Click, hang up.

They have also been circulating emails. Never give out your credit card account numbers unless you initiated the phone call and you know the business you are contacting. If your credit card company truly had an offer to give you lower interest rates (yeah right), they'd already know your account numbers.

Just FYI. It might be spreading to your area.
Yeah, it's a scam, but what a good business to be in right now. I think I might even start my own credit card services business. They are cropping up all over the place right now. The new bubble.

Exclamation You are allowed to sue them for harassment

Thanks joshmo789

I believe it is a federal law that says you can sue these nimrods for $1500- or $2500- for each time they call after you tell them not to call again.

I've kept records in my Palm every time they call. Today was 3 times. I intend to go to small claims court in the morning and file a suit. In CA the maximum amount in small claims court is $7,500-.

Thanks Josh. I got curious so I used Google maps to see the address posted. One includes the suite number 900 for a 2 story building. The other address is an empty lot next to Highway 50. The website contains zero information. It's comical how they have links to check your order or shopping cart but nothing to buy. Any revealing information about these scam artists would be appreciated.

Exclamation Same Guy - New Company - Same Game

The link posted by zMan0 for Florida corp info show Leverage Communications applied to dissolve itself in August. However, today I got a call from "Consumer Services" offering the same service. Use Zabasearch to look up Christopher Rubini. The Google satellite view shows he has a very nice house at 10020 VALLEY ROSE CT ORLANDO, FL 32825.

Leverage Communications may be dissolved but this guy now runs a new company called EXCITE FINANCIAL INC.

In today's call it was from the 305 area code. I managed to get the rep to say the company is "Card Services" in Orlando. In all my calls that's the name they use. Unless I'm in a hurry, I usually press 1 just to waste the rep's time until my punch line: Aren't you ashamed that you're breaking federal law? I'm on the Do Not Call list." Usually they've hung up by the time I can get those few words out of my mouth. Occasionally they recite their bogus argument that "you contacted us". Once I got one with an attitude who ended the call with some profanity and a threat that "I can fix it so that you get calls all day and all night long." I said fine, I'll be happy to scold them and waste their time, too. All I got after that were the usual calls, 2-3 weeks apart.

They obviously don't keep records or delete the names of people like me who are a "bad prospect, don't waste your time." Each rep must just work off the same lists that everyone gets over and over. No wonder they can't make any money. The lists have already been milked dry.

To the posters who claim that they really did get credit relief, was that after you paid the $999 or whatever fee up front? Yeah, right. I smell a sock puppet shill there.

Filing complaints with the feds is a waste. I got a boilerplate reply that I did not supply enough information for further investigation and I should check with my state attorney general for possible further action. My state AG? This is a federal offense! But then, it's been state AGs that have taken the first actions against spammers, so there's a certain logic to it.

Enough information has been posted here and on other sites to track down and take action againt this scofflaw company and its owner. Unfortunately, as with spam, nothing will happen until enough people complain loud and long to the feds and their AGs to the point where politically it can no longer be ignored. IMO it's scandalous that the feds and AGs haven't already shut them down.

I had a company that tried doing this for me call me every day for three weeks even though I told them I was on the do not call list, even though I told them I was not in any trouble and did not want to do this and I repeatedly threatened to turn them in. I did complain to the state but they could not do anything because the company number did not show up on my caller id and I could not track them back.

A Fox 40 whistle is a good investment - I have one on my key chain.
