I remember someone from that bunch calling me up. I gave them my CC number, then the lady came back on line and said that my card was declined.

I was like, "Yeah, it should, it's been closed since 2003!"

Got one the other day, caller ID showed 1-800-522-1235, and a speal about reducing my interest rates. Press "1" if interested. To mess with them I did, and when someone answered I asked what company she was with and she replied "Credit Card Services". I then asked where they were located and she hung up.

This is probably the 3rd or 4th I have received calls from them, and I always try to **** with them. And they always hang up on me.

I am on the "do not call" list, and I always report these calls on https://complaints.donotcall.gov/com...k.aspx?panel=2 Perhaps if the thousands of people these criminals call every day would do so, perhaps the FCC will shut them down. If you don't complain, they will continue to harass with impunity.

Phone Warrior,

Thanks for posting. Here's a link to the story again, in case people have trouble seeing it in your post:

About 1/4 of the calls I get from them are unknown number. They have ways of phishing the caller ID, as you can guess. Call the Governor. Make life miserable for those who are supposed to protect us from this BS. ONLY then will there be real action.

Oh, BTW, don't get your hopes up about the car warranty scam going away. After reading about how the FTC is going after them, guess what showed up on my caller ID? Yep, "Auto Warranty," along with what I'm sure is another bogus number.

I'd be fairly sure those are all "desk" names. Good for you keeping them busy for half an hour. Now report it to Charlie Crist's secretary.

And these companies operate with complete disregard for the "do not call list" and many other laws, and no one does a damn thing to shut these predatory crooks down.

I guss I had another one of those warranty calls on my cell phone the other day.

"0000000000"

Yeah, an all-zero 10 digit number isn't getting me to waste my TracFone minutes, either.

I thnik you would ebe better offf compaining to your congressman and senator than the FTC which lately seems to be ignoring complaints. Ask for the don't call list to be really effective by not aloowing anyone to call without premission that includes all businesses without your express permission. The heavy fines for those that do.Otherwise we wil see the same nothing law that now exist.
