Does anyone have any help/similar situations with this????? I want to draw up a cease and decist letter, but wouldn't know where to send it. Does anyone know how they are using or got my number?

Excellent! (Not for you, but as a way to put pressure on getting this jerk stopped.)
The governor of Florida is Charlie Crist. His contact info is here:
Florida Governor Charlie Crist | Contact The Governor
The Florida attorney general has dropped the ball, so the pressure needs to ratchet up to the next level. We have already contacted the office of the governor by phone, and have been assured that snail mail letters are read and responded to on an individual (not form letter) basis. We are writing one and you need to do the same.
Barnea's shell corporations need to be dissolved by the state, and Barnea prosecuted for his crimes. YOU are a key player, in that you can get info from all the people contacted through use of your number, and YOU can put them on to calling the governor's switchboard (Executive Office of the Governor Switchboard: (850) 488-7146 ) to register a personal complaint with the live operator (who will NOT be happy and will want to transfer your call). If enough people call, action might be taken. If documentation of just how MANY people this operation is affecting gets on any public document, it will FORCE action.

I remember someone from that bunch calling me up. I gave them my CC number, then the lady came back on line and said that my card was declined.
I was like, "Yeah, it should, it's been closed since 2003!"

Got one the other day, caller ID showed 1-800-522-1235, and a speal about reducing my interest rates. Press "1" if interested. To mess with them I did, and when someone answered I asked what company she was with and she replied "Credit Card Services". I then asked where they were located and she hung up.
This is probably the 3rd or 4th I have received calls from them, and I always try to **** with them. And they always hang up on me.
I am on the "do not call" list, and I always report these calls on https://complaints.donotcall.gov/com...k.aspx?panel=2 Perhaps if the thousands of people these criminals call every day would do so, perhaps the FCC will shut them down. If you don't complain, they will continue to harass with impunity.

I got a call today. "Unknown number" shown on caller ID. Because some of my family members have OnStar it shows up that way sometimes so I answered it. (I am on the Do-Not-Call list as well). Anyway, it was a recording saying they could lower my Visa and Mastercard rates...just press 6. So I did. Just for the heck of it. Got a live person and asked who she worked for. She said "credit card services". I told her I wasn't aware that Visa and Mastercard were affiliated. And asked her if she had my card information, since she was calling me. I thought she hung up...but then there was a click and a phone ringing. An elderly woman answered the phone. then it clicked again and started ringing another number. I hung up at that point. I'm wondering if I'm going to have the same problem as jbf3174.
How can they use my number to call others?
It appears they are targeting elderly and people who don't know better than to give out card numbers over the phone.
What was troubling to me...after reading all the posts. Is that this time it showed up as an "Unknown Number".

About 1/4 of the calls I get from them are unknown number. They have ways of phishing the caller ID, as you can guess. Call the Governor. Make life miserable for those who are supposed to protect us from this BS. ONLY then will there be real action.
Oh, BTW, don't get your hopes up about the car warranty scam going away. After reading about how the FTC is going after them, guess what showed up on my caller ID? Yep, "Auto Warranty," along with what I'm sure is another bogus number.

All the calls might not go away but doing some research the ones the FTC hit were definitly one of the biggist. Also doing some research and looks like most carriers like MCI or ATT are not allowing that type of business anymore or are increasing there rates a ton. There are lots of other companies that do that, do a google on auto warranty, voice dialing, voice blasting, live transfer leads, and you will find lots of companies.
Also on Sept 1 2009 the FTC is changing it's laws on the Voice Dialing and no company will be allowed to do it unless they have a signed agreement allowing them to or if they are a customer. I found this on some governement site but can't find the link again. if I find it i will post.
