I've gotten several calls when we weren't at home insisting they had talked to us and how we qualified for all kinds of good things.
Yeah, blah, blah.
I give them fake made up numbers and stuff.

WASHINGTON--The Federal Trade Commission essentially banned robocalls Tuesday--creating new rules that telemarketers may only send the prerecorded sales pitches to people who actually want to receive them.
The FTC amended its Telemarketing Sales Rule after reviewing more than 14,000 comments made since October 2006, when proposed amendments were published for public consideration.
There are two stages to the change: By December 2008, robocalls will be required to include an automated key-press or voice-activated opt-out. Beginning September 2009, telemarketers won't be able to send out any robocalls without "the prior express written agreement of the recipient to receive such calls."

As of December 200 8???? Bubkins, that date has already passed with zero effect.
The law doesn't effect lawbreakers. Remember that classic line -
Automated key-press? Automated key-press? We don' need no steenkin' automated key-press, we are the Federalles!

Law
If you read the article it says that the company had to announce there name and have a method for the person who is called to be removed from there call list. This definitly had no effect. The difference is Sept 2009 you can no longer robo call anybody unless you have written consent to call them and I think if they are your customer then you are allowed to call them also. The only people this will not stop is the over seas companies that dial into the US

I have received numerous unsolicited automated calls from Credit Card Services on our home telephone number in the Chicago area despite the fact that our number is registered on the National Do Not Call Registry. On two occasions I have answered the calls and gone through the menu options until I'm speaking to a live rep.
During each phone conversation I have asked the rep to take our phone number off of Credit Card Services' calling list, at which point the rep immediately hangs up on me.
These guys are loathsome jerks.

So I got a call from "Card Services" offering to lower my interest rate and since Chase has just almost tripled my interest rate which should be illegal I decided to play along, but I asked a lot of questions and the guy never faltered or got negative. Luckily I had to have 4000 at 10% or more and I only had 3500, so I asked if there was a number I could call when my other card almost triples in interest rate and he gave me 18669299743. So after googling "card services" I found this forum and thought I'd call the number now. Of course it's disconnected. It's funny because it rings 2-3 times and then says it's disconnected. So it's definitely a scam. But what I don't get is what do they get from it. Say I had a balance of 4500 on a 5000 credit limit.. do they think they're going to get the last 500 bucks? Then the credit card company goes after them for a fraudulent charge and somewhere down the line they have to get caught don't they? Anyway, Chase is now the second company to raise my interest rate in just the past 6 months. It's nice that people who should never have bought homes to begin with get all this special treatment to try to keep their homes, but those of us with credit card debt are getting continually screwed over by the credit card companies, some of whom have been bailed out.. how about my bail out?

I'm Familiar With These Idiots Too
I have been receiving calls from these fools, each and every day, anywhere from 9 a.m. in the morning to 8 p.m. at night...I never answer my phone when I am home, because I have caller I.D. Of course they never leave a message...if it was a valid business, they would leave a message. I figured from the start this was some kind of nonsense, since I am a pretty skeptical person when it comes to stuff like that. They must think people were born yesterday, or something. I have their number, it is: 1-800-544-3623 if anyone is interested, you can check your caller I.D. and see if it the same bunch of moronic parasites. Now I would just like to find out where I could report them and their 800 number, for harrassment, scamming, or whatever else I can think of to get them for.

My co-worker got a call from this crowd today at his desk. He pushed the options until he got a real person, but when he started asking questions they hung up. Real professional.

Just got this exact call and I asked specifically, who is "credit card services"? The english-as-a-second-language gentlemen at the other end of the line said they represent VISA and Mastercard and wanted to know if I would like to lower my rate. I asked for their website and he said they didn't have one. I asked to have my number removed from their call list and requested further to speak with a supervisor... and I was hung up on. The caller-id came through as 402-982-0664. Call today, 25 August 2009, at 3:37 MDT. Beware of this SCAM!

Card Services Scam
NEVER give or confirm any information about yourself or your credit card to anyone who initiates a call to you, no matter what they are offering. The techniques used by companies who claim to offer negotiation of lower card rates are dishonest and misleading. Nothing is free! Further, if they indicate they already have a lot of personal information about you and your card, call your issuing bank and report this. They will report your card as stolen and issue a new card and you'll feel better. This scamming is happening all over. They are also not complying with no call list regulations. Total exploitation of people already in serious financial distress.
