I asked this in the Foreclosure forum but I'm not having much luck so I thought I'd try here.
I recently visited an attorney who told me that Chapter 13 sets one up for failure so he doesn't do them. I don't really have much debt and my mortgage is FHA-backed so I didn't see the point in filing Chapter 7. A friend that is a paralegal told me that in Chapter 13 sometimes the judge will reduce my morgage payments. I've been trying and trying to get a mortgage modification through BofA for a very, very long time and I get nowhere. They now won't approve me because too much time has passed.
So, I am wondering if I can get a reduced payment through Chapter 13. There are some very provable, extenuating financial circumstances so it is not like I just want my payments lowered. In fact, they were both big issues.
