Has anyone used both? I've been using Square for awhile, works great because it automatically deposits to my bank account every night and I see it in my bank account the very next morning. My reader broke and so i started to use the PayPal Here swipe until my new Square swiper comes in, everything works perfect and I was willing to make the permanent switch (lower fees), except it takes a slow 2-3 days before it gets in my bank account!

I have it automatically deposited every night, and yes on paypal.com it shows a 0.00 balance every night and you can see it say "to bank account pending." I've been using it for over a week but will switch back as soon as the Square reader finally gets here.

I went with Square so I can take orders over the phone. I've got more of a hobby than a business, but it works for me. I also sell on E-Bay, and take PayPal and noticed the same thing you did. With Square it's there the next morning, but PayPal takes about 3 days. I didn't think there was any difference with either at 2.5%, but phone orders are 3.5% with square.

thanks. Yeah, ok at least it's the same for everyone then. My guess is that they want you to leave the funds in the PayPal account so you will be able to use their PayPal Debit card.

Why people transfer their Paypal funds to a checking account is a mystery to me. Just get the PayPal debit card and spend the funds instantly and enjoy monthly cash back to boot.

Allowing your funds to be untouchable for 2-3 days is costing you much more than whatever completely imaginary benefit you think you're receiving by transferring the funds to your checking account.

To explain your unknowing, it's because some people have bills to pay that is only allowed by major US Financial Institutions =( You must have luxury of not needing it in your bank account.

I wish I could just use the PayPal Debit card, gives me 1% back!

Anyhoo, back to using Square!

I use Square, and it takes 2-3 days to show up in my account, but it might be because I have to do transactions manually - I haven't gotten the card reader to work yet, and I have two of them.

That's interesting how you have gotten your card reader to work...I've never had a problem.

Besides car payments and credit cards, I can't think of any bill that can't be paid through a Paypal account. I get 1.5% cash back from Paypal and only 1% through my checking debit card or other credit cards.

I put all spending on my credit cards so I need money in my bank account to pay them.

I'm not as fortunate as you to keep money in my PayPal account. Others as well.
Plus, my credit card points gets me airline miles, so i wouldn't want to use PayPal cards anyways.

I'm going to try the card reader again, and see what happens. My $1.00 transaction, well $.81, showed up in the bank this morning.
