24 and I save $3500/month (I invest in index funds, to be specific). Not gonna post my exact salary but I make 5 figures. I'm just very frugal.

Planning to retire in my early 30's.

The two have A LOT to do with each other. Working because you want to and working because you have to for financial reasons are two completely different universes.

That's what I was thinking. Eating at fast food is a no no for everyone. That's why we have so much obesity, diabetes, heart disease, etc. The suffering alone is bad enough. The health care costs make that type of eating even worse, especially when you can easily afford better food.

Actually, eating fast food is often more expensive than preparing your own food. I stopped going to fast food primarily because it was too expensive. I can prepare myself a decently healthy lunch for a week for the price of one Subway sandwich, for example.

At 100k/yr it's impossible.

$15,000*12=$180,000 in savings.

I wish I could save any amount at all each month. I am just happy on months when I am not too much on the negative. With that said, I do pay all the bills and take care of the finances. Just max out the 403 and after medical, flex, all deductions.. It is just enough to pay all the bills and expenses.

I don't consider my retirement as saving.. just an insurance plan.

At $250K it's pretty near impossible as well due to taxes. You also need to at least cover basic food and living quarters for yourself. $300-350K is more realistic.

it isnt bad for you. if you eat 3 dollar menu items in a meal; you are in no way hurting your health or risking obesity. it will be the other stuff you eat during the course of the day that does that. people are fat and unhealthy because they eat too much, not because of what they eat. its funny how people think eating at a more expensive restaurant somehow changes the health/obesity proposition. your body cant tell the difference between the dollar menu and the best french restaurant in manhattan.

It's not anywhere near impossible

250k gross single filler = 222,350 taxable income if you max your 401k
68,112.75 in total tax obligations fed, ss and med

181,887 in net income or 164,387 after 401k

Edit: after all that I'm an idiot. I read it as 100k in savings. 180k is possible if you live off of 1887.25 per year
