I have had enough credit cards and do not want more.
They send two letters per week, always with the same content asking me to apply for their credit card.

Why are they so aggressive? Something unique in my credit history?

Nothing unique about it. For the past year or so the creditors had been loosening up and flooding people with pre-approval letters.
If you don't want to get those letters then Opt Out with the CRA's, and also opt out with the creditors that you currently do business with.

It's really funny how it works. People that need credit and loans can't get them and those of us that don't need them are bombarded with these "offers."

You can ask to be removed from their mailing lists. It's time consuming to wait on hold to request and some customer service people get silly about it and you might have to call more than once or request it in writing.

I bought a cross-cut shredder and all of it gets cut into cute little confetti. Sometimes, I save the plastic fake cards inside for when my kiddies like to play store. ;-)

If they also send a postage paid return envelope - -

Circle your name and address on the letter with black marker
Write "Remove from all marketing lists" in big letters next to your name and address with black marker.
Mail it back to them in the envelope that they provided and paid the postage.

It takes a while, but works eventually.

If I have the time, I do this with any marketing junk that gives me a postage paid envelope

Discover would top this. I get a couple solicitations from them per week. I should replace my mail box with a recycle bin!

If I had a dollar for every piece of junk mail that comes to my house, I would have a lot of money.

This!

I did exactly that for about a year and all the credit card apps have stopped!! I would write "take me off the list" or "stop harassing me" on the application and then I would send it in the envelope provided. They eventually got the message.

I just got a new Chase Card in the mail. I was not even sure I had a Chase account. Wife said we did but she thought she cancelled it a year or so ago. I just cut the card up. Interesting to see what Chase does next. I suppose I should pay attention and cancel it.
