I also already have a job offer in the Software sector of a big company, so I'll be making more than enough when graduation comes [plus I'll be living at home while working].
Long story short, 1k isn't too much money for me at this point.
anyway, my roommate is 1k short for paying her college tuition. It's partially her own fault (She lost her scholarship, she doesn't work, she's on meal plan (overpriced), etc), but I feel bad. She has to either pay by next Friday or get kicked out of college. She's from ghetto (literally) and doesn't know her dad, so she can't go to her family for help.
Should I offer to help? She's not really a friend. She's not a particularly great roommate, but she's not terrible. I've been exceptionally blessed (parents, and then the field I studied/going into isn't doing too bad), so I kind of feel a karmatic need to try and help.

No effin way. Seriously. You have that nest egg because you are smart, you saved up and didn't blow your money, etc.
She will never learn to take care of herself if people keep enabling her.
You will be helping her more if she has to deal with this on her own.
