Could somebody recommend a bank account that I could open in Florida, one that does not require large fees to open. I am overseas.

Everbank has very good interest rates without any fees. But you would need to check with them to see if you can open the account without coming into their branch. They're in Jacksonville.

Try Suntrust or Bank of America, they may let you open an account with passport number instead of SS number, but you will incur fees unless 2/3k is deposited.
