Not to get all political or that I think Trump is solely responsible for the excellent economy we've had the past few years. Just thought it would be interesting to hear from you.

Congrats on your wealth!

So what do you think the measurement actually is? My net worth has more than doubled since the start of the thread but in each of the Obama terms I had a greater increase in net worth than I had with Trump. This actually goes back to my prior comments that a president gets more credit/blame than they deserve still applies.

Outside of that do I give credit to Obama or Trump for my net worth increase or is it largely because of my ability to save roughly half of my income?

I'm single & a renter, so no home equity. Income is a little high this year because I will get an extra paycheck because of the way the payroll calendar falls. 60k will be the most I've ever made.

My general net worth trajectory:

Age 26: -$14,000
Age 35: $100,000
Age 41: $200,000
Age 43: $300,000
Age 46: $400,000
Age 48: $500,000
Age 50: $600,000

Most of it is because I was a save-a-holic, especially from age 26 to 35, not because I got amazing investment returns.

I have had parental gifts, but never more than $1200 a year. They almost always go toward savings and investments.
That's insanely impressive, especially given where you live. Congrats!

Anyone hear an echo here?

Harvest away! If you can monetize this somehow, have a ball.

Mathjak had his real name printed in the magazine and no one has put a hit on him yet. He has owned up to it repeatedly on CD and still he is alive with his net worth intact.

What makes it extra special is the poster has a government pension till he dies. It's not jealousy but congrats to those who will have a life long pension. I have a private pension but prefer a public one.

Is your posting history on City Data not already a data harvest center? Same with any social media you have, any cards or rewards numbers associated with a grocery store or gas station, and your browsing behavior on the internet.

Big brother's already got us all in his pocket. This thread is literally the least of my concerns.

We lost 40% of our portfolio from the 2009 Bush Depression. Held on and made no changes and gained most of that back and more during the Obama years.

Glad to be retired well before COVID - because it would have meant job loss / and a dip in our savings.

There was nothing about the last 4 years politically that made us feel stable financially and we got out before another fatal hit.
