I only worked for one company that gave out bonuses, and it wasn't cash, but our choice of a turkey, a ham, or a bottle of Dom Perignon Champagne. All the men chose either the turkey or the ham, and all the women chose the Champagne, lol.

You're lucky you're getting anything!

It's a BONUS, not an entitlement (unless specifically guaranteed as part of your employment)!

Definition of BONUS according to Merriam-Webster:

something in addition to what is expected or strictly due:
- as money or an equivalent given in addition to an employee's usual compensation

No Christmas bonus but got a fun job that doesn't require me to work the usual 9-5. I guess I do get small bonuses randomly here and there but I would much rather enjoy what I do than be somewhere else that consumes much more of my time, even if there is a good bonus.

I've never gotten a Christmas bonus at my current company. We get a fiscal yearend bonus of 20% base +/- company performance.

Our bonus comes in March/April after year end results are reported as well. In my current position it is based off 15% of my salary and then goes up or down from that number based on how the company performs financially as well as certain metrics for safety/on time delivery as well.

I get a check approximately equal to 2 weeks' pay (about $1000). But then, my boss is my mother, so I also get free lunches all the time, and Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners cooked for me (mom is a fabulous cook...me, not so much).

On especially profitable years, I get more. A few years, when times were tough in the real estate world, I got less. Always between $500 and $4000, though.

5-15% of my salary. Depends on business and sales metrics.

Usually we find out what it will be around end of year and it's paid out end of Jan.

I usually put most towards retirement, some into stocks, and some into household projects. I treat it as found money and don't budget on it.

This is exactly what my work does (15% of salary, as well) although the individual bonus can increase up to an additional 50% based on our division performance.

One of my jobs I worked at for the first holiday season and got nothing, the second year I worked there we worked out BUTTS OFF and ended up getting a $200 bonus. I was happy but at the same time I felt very entitled to it since I was working 50+ hour weeks. The entire company didn't get it, only our team did since we worked so much.

The second job I had I was at for only 4 months when I got a $400 Christmas bonus. That was definitely a pleasant surprise especially since I hadn't even been there a year!

My current job does not offer a Christmas bonus for the sake of Christmas. They do offer a yearly bonus depending on the health of the company though. Last year that netted me 2.3K but unfortunately I have a feeling I would be lucky to get that this year.

Well thanks for the feedback,

I am not some huge company. I dont make millions. From reading this forum I am probably **** poor compared to incomes that people post here.
I have 6 employees. They are all commission based and a decent one at that. Each person's bonus is varied since a few employees generate more sales than others.

I do appreciate some of the feedback from others though!
