I think that the "real estate crisis" that led to the bill is well over in most of the country. The people who are selling short or going into foreclosure now aren't people who got caught up in the real estate bubble markets or in the 2008-2009 recession. If Congress wants to continue the policy, it should make it permanent or at least sunset it after, say 10 years or some similar time frame.
