My husband and I are RINKS (Financially Independent No Kids) and live in a very good area about an hour southeast of Orlando and only 15 minutes from the Atlantic beaches. We plan to age in place. God willing, I wouldn't have to actually worry about co-housing for another decade or two. I strongly believe that Failing to Plan is Planning to Fail and so I am already leisurely checking out aging issues.
I am trying to build up selectively over time a list of potential housemates to either share my home when the time comes to do so (Golden Girls setup) or attract to move into my neighborhood as and when boomers decide to either downsize or relocate to where winter is simply cozy instead of freezing.
It would be conceptually workable to form my own Retirement Community over time if I can get half a dozen younger boomers who are presently around 60 to 65 to live on my street over the next dozen years. Right now, the neighbor 2 houses to my right is planning to sell in the near future to move into assisted living while another neighbor across the lake from me will probably have to do likewise in another couple of years. House to the right is valued at about $250K while house across the lake is about $375K. The ideal situation would be to attract into the community someone younger who can offer paid services (transport, shopping, lite chores etc) to the older boomers.

How are you getting the acronym Rink from financial independent no kids?
