Cashier's Check or alt from out of state bank? (funds, pay, wire)

Hi - we just moved to another city and haven't opened a bank account yet. Our leasing agent is asking for a certified check for the security deposit to move into our new place. We have the funds in our bank account back home, but its a regional bank I guess and I don't see any branches in the new city. Can anyone suggest the easiest way to fill the request? The only thing I can think of is a wire transfer and then I can add an extra $50 or whatever to pay fees.

Open a local account, transfer funds from your home bank, and have the new bank issue a cashier's check.
