I'm pretty much in the same boat as you minus the masters degree and what I owe on the house. I owe a bit less then $250K but should have that paid off in 4 years or 6 years if I buy another rental property.

funny how you have all of those whining about how bad things are and yet folks here are saying they were never richer .

I am retired so it is highly likely that I am as rich as I will get. I don't play the lottery, have no one to inherit money from, so unless the stock market does a lot better, this is it.

Ask me the same question in 10 years. I believe I've yet to reach my peak. Haha. The power of positive thinking.

Sixteen years ago, zero debt, no mortgage, no car loan, etc and I was able to write a check for $100,000 to open a bank account. That felt good.

Today. $4.5 million not including house with no debt at all. But I want more. Flying first class and staying at the Four Season's takes a lot of dough!

I really am pleased. We'll see if it lasts; life has made it pretty clear that nothing gold (so to speak) can stay.

Right now. Have around $200K equity in house, $250K in 401k, around $50K in cash and banking around $6K a month.

It's amazing how much your position can change within a few years. Getting married really had a big impact on me, we both made decent money and suddenly with marriage and moving in together it was like everything doubled.
