My husband and I each get a monthly allowance and I normally just save mine and keep it in the house. Around $800, if I didn't do that then I'd probably have some cash on hand anyways. I think $1000 cash stashed away is good, least for me. you just never know.

That is a nice monthly allowance. I was supposed to withdraw $300.00 to increase my stash to $500. I am going to leave it at $200. I don't spend money during the week. I have my monthly pass and I brown bag most of my meals.

It is, however, good to have cash in your wallet. I went to the drive thru and the machine was not working. Thankfully, I had cash.
