you need to ask a tougher question. like a guy is holding a briefcase with $70k cash and your mother in law over the edge of a cliff. you can only save one, which one will it be? (this will be much easier for some than for others)
For me, income would make a difference too. If I'm making $500k a year, I can make that $70k in a couple of months. I'd rather have great credit and have access to leverage than have an extra $70k with poor prospects of getting a loan or passing a background check.
My credit score is in the 830 range so my answer is the cash. I don't see how another 20 points on my credit score would help me but somebody handing over 70k no questions asked sounds somewhat appealing.
$70,000 in my hand please. If I'm not mistaken an 850 credit score is the highest you can get. I already have 815 credit score and I don't use it. I don't borrow money. or buy anything that requires a high score. So, I won't need an 850 score.
