i can give them financial advice , at this stage i know most of what i need to know and do . . i already had them pitch me a variable annuity years ago .
they made it sound so good , that if i didn't know how to look under the hood and evaluate it i would have fallen for it .

The variable annuity seems to be their favorite pitch.
When I switched to Chase a couple of years ago, I was able to listen with the 'ears' you provided on here, mathjack.
Thank you.
they can be so complex and sound so good when pitched . they don't lie , but they just don't really explain the fact all these bonus dollars and guaranteed growth are never your money .
they only serve as a base down the road for annuitizing . the one they pitched guaranteed 10% a year for 10 years and was the story line ..
hot off the press. you can no longer get both the sapphire reserve and preferred card for the bonus points . you can only have one of them . they will now reject you for the other . effective aug 27th
has anyone been successful at opening a jpm/chase private client account and getting them to waive the first year fee on the card ? with some brokerages offering 600 bucks to open accounts i was going to take a shot at getting them to waive the fee the first year .
just curious if anyone was successful doing this ?
I have the Sapphire Reserve Card and paid the fees. It has excellent travel benefits. For those who are unaware, benefits include 50,000 frequent flyer miles after spending around $4,000 in the first few months of card ownership. It includes free travel medical evacuation insurance up to about $100,000 a person. The card supplements auto insurance on vehicles rented abroad, so you don't have to worry about buying extra insurance from foreign car rental companies. Another benefit is access to many private airport lounges in America and overseas. There is no exchange fee for any transaction on the card in a foreign currency. Your dollar converts at exactly the prevailing rate of exchange on the day of the transaction.
The annual fee is $450. Three hundred dollars is refundable for any charges made for traveling. So, for a traveler like myself, it costs me $150.00 a year to have the card. Frankly, waiving that portion of the fee never occurred to me.
MJ, if you do succeed in getting these fees waived than let me know.
I talked to Chase once and they even poopood on Wellington fund.
What did they say about it?
