I'm in a similar situation, have a Honda Civic for trips, and an older car for shopping around town.
This costs an extra registration plus a bit more on insurance each year, however less than one newer car that would be used
for everything, plus newer cars are more expensive to maintain. I've thought of selling one, but like the flexibility of having two cars.
I'd keep the cars that you have, save, and see if you want the new toy in 5 years.
