I rather live in a no state income tax state. I could find ways to circumvent the sales tax.

I don’t get the original poster. Florida taxes are about as favorable as it gets. No state income tax. Sales tax differs by county and groceries are exempt. Property taxes cannot rise more than 3% per year if you file for a Homestead Exemption. The price appreciation of homes will offset higher property taxes compared to Tennessee.

The real killer in Florida is insurance. Our property insurance rates are some of the highest in the nation due to storm risks. We have barely even begun to see the Hurricane Irma increases. Rates will climb and remain elevated several years. Car insurance is also very high.
