Yes, you can use the phone on wifi for all features. You don't have to pay the $3.00 fees for using those features on wifi.

I found their setup process to be very easy and the few times I have needed to contact customer service, they have been very pleasant and helpful.

Thanks. I am very happy with Cricket's cheapest plan ($30), but it seems based on my usage, I could shave $12/month off using Ting. I might give it a try.

redpocket mobile. I pay $10 per month for a bare minimum prepaid plan 500mb data/500 min/500 txt

there's another service called Mint which is based on sprint for $15 per month which gives 2gb data, unlimited voice and text which I'm thinking about moving to.

i'm paying for 5 phones and I refuse to pay $200/month for anything other than a car payment or an insurance payment.

Look into Project Fi from Google. 20 bucks a month and 10 bucks each used Gb of data up to 6 Gb, thereafter data is free. Data plan is only charged per usage, so if you were staying on WiFi mostly, you will have very small bill. You are limited to two phone choices for new phones, Google Pixel XL or 2XL and Moto something. They also had 6 older phones that work with their system. Listed on their site.

I use my phone very little so I have a tracfone prepaid. I have one of their "smart phones". I get a years worth of use for 125 dollars (10.42 per month). That includes 1500 minutes and 1.25gb of data. I never use the data.

Why do I have a "smart phone"? I use it in my vehicle to play spotify play lists.

FYI I am in my 50's and grew up incommunicado; I seemed to get by without constant communications.
