For all of us who feel conflicted about writing our wills and going to the expense and difficulty of setting up a living trust the fact that a multi-millionaire didn't do this may make you feel better.
She, of course, is not the only wealthy person to do this. I believe Prince didn't leave a will either. Which leaves it up to the state they died in to determine who gets what. And lawyers get paid out the wazoo because it will take years and years to settle this.

I'm 40 with no kids and thinking I probably ought to at least draw up a will soon. Had three grandparents live to at least 92, and the other died at 83, so hopefully I have many years left and you can never, ever be too prepared.

Doubt it, Ms Franklin was remarkably generous. I am baffled why folks don't get these taken care of.
