My wife and I have applied and were accepted for 4 different Credit Cards in the last 12 months. Counting the bonus points for signing up and the minimum spending points we are up about $3000.00 for our efforts.

They call it Credit Card Churning and there are tons of websites about it, but I have seen very little discussion about it on City-Data.

Yes plenty of people here do. There are 4-5 threads on page one of this forum for credit cards alone

You are getting $750 per card? The best I've seen is $500. What cards are giving $750?

Chase Sapphire gave us 60,000 Bonus Points to sign up and then we charged $5000 with bonuses for restaurants and travel-for part of it- equaled about 67,000 points. We got a 25% bonus for using the points for travel so that equaled $837.00 in value.

Many people have done this for decades actually. The heydays of churning involved lots of manufactured spending (you literally spent $0 out of pocket) and there were very little restrictions like 5/24, etc. I cannot count the number of free flights to Hawaii from British Airways 100K bonuses. There was a period of 10 years when I churned where I paid nothing for flights and hotels.

There's better discussion of this topic on Flyertalk forums.

The past 6 months I signed up for 3 new CCs to take advantage of the cash back being offered. They also had 12 - 15 month 0% APRs.

I see you're new to C-D, welcome! The search function is your friend, would can find dozens of old threads, some probably started over tens ago on this very topic, you probably can spend hours just reading the old threads.

I just noticed you're "Not a member" anymore, oh well, it was nice knowing ya!

I got 100,000 Chase Sapphire Reserve points and booked a $500/night all inclusive (Secrets the Vine Cancun) for 4 nights for $59 TOTAL. When I attended the obligatory 'travel group' pitch they give you (akin to the 'timeshare pitch') the guy thought I was lying until I pulled up my receipt and showed him.

Chase Ink Business frequently has I believe an 80k point bonus going on for those under the "5/24" rule of theirs.

Currently waiting on my Citi Premier bonus of 60k points-redeeming those should come out at about $750 fyi OP.

Got a $600 cash bonus within one month of getting a Chase card last fall and used it for a trip earlier this year. For that same trip, I used a combination of Amex card bonus points, Alaska Airlines card bonus miles and a 'half off on Alaska miles sale' to fly first class (Dubai>US) on Emirates for my 40th birthday.

Just received my bonus from my Terps card which will be used to book accommodations in Costa Rica in October. Do note that right after getting this card, they slashed the 'value' of their points in half basically so even though I will be booking a room for close to free, I won't be booking for as long as I wanted because the points are no longer valued at what they used to be. The game changes all of the time so sometimes you lose out in ways like this; I still consider it a win because hey...free is free no matter the number of nights.

You can even churn bank accounts for cash bonuses. Currently waiting on a $400 cash bonus from Wells Fargo next month and will be targeting a $300 cash bonus from PNC right after that (received a $200 PNC bonus last year).

Best info IMO is on the Reddit churning forum. Doctor of Credit and The Points Guy also have great lists for the best cards/accounts to sign up for. Just be sure to do your research; don't go crazy with it starting out...there is a method to it and the order in which you get cards is important (for instance, getting Chase cards first as they have rules on how many cards you can have received within the last 2 years before they start declining you). Again...see the Reddit churning forums for the best info on this.
