That's just one...!
Today, when you meet a potential lover, you no longer ask them "What's your sign" Today, you ask them "What's your credit scorte..!"
That is only partialy in jest, don't ever marry someone with poor credit, you will pay the rest of your life..... something very few think about in a potential mate.

You usually can tell what kind of credit a person have by how they handle their finances. In a guy right out of school an expensive car is a bad sign. In women outrageously expensive clothes are a bad sign.

Partly incorrect.

Your credit reports are seperate and you are not required by law to pay for your spouses credit cards if they are not an authorized user on that account.

We all maintain our own credit reports and can get either an advantage or disadvantage from being an authorized user depending on the history of that credit card and the ultilization of it.

Each state laws are different but my credit card debt with my name only on it is not my husbands responsibility and visa versa.

You cannot be sued for your husbands debts under most credit cards.

I recently went through forclosure and know my credit is bad, but I just checked my credit report and found that my husband's credit card debt is also showing. Not all his credit cards, but his highest debts are on there. Is it because he had me on as a user? It was under his social security number, not mine, and I never signed any paperwork. He had decided it would be good for me to have one.
Is the only way to fix this if he files for bankruptcy? Can I do anything? There is no way I could afford to settle a debt over 15,000.00

Replies appreciated!!!
Try asking your husband before strangers.

In the state I live in, as soon as you marry you automatically become liable for each other's past debts. This includes, credit cards, child support, etc. Something to find out about prior to tying the knot!

You can always call the credit bureau agency and dispute it. I was an auth user on my ex husband's and did not realize it. I called the credit card company and removed myself, and then all 3 agencies and disputed it showing on my report. It took all of a month for an investigation, and they deleted the tradeline off my report.
